while visiting my hometown {fayetteville, ar} last month for northwest arkansas fashion week, my uber talented photographer friend keely yount asked if i would style a last minute shoot.  when i say "last minute," i mean that all moving parts were pulled together in approx. about 30 minutes.  you know those rare times when you're getting dressed, quickly throw on some clothes, and somehow it turns out to be your best work?  i'd compare this to that.  there was no time to over-think, or over-work... it was just simple + beautiful happenstance.  here are the results...

oscar de la renta fall | winter 2013: backstage.

for the fall 2013 Oscar de la Renta runway show, gucci westman sent out four very diverse makeup looks to accompany the new collection; dark eyes, bright lip, bold red lip, and nude shine.  this made for a more chaotic than normal backstage, but definitely showcased the abundant talent of the makeup crew.  my personal favorite was the bossy dark eye look.  totally mesmerized by the eye shadow palette {'midnight express' by revlon}, i'm still shocked that it is only $10.  i love that with runway, things can be totally avant-garde; chopped lipstick was used as face color + super lustrous lipgloss was applied to wet the eyelids.  it left me feeling inspired to think outside of the box tube!  depending on the model, nails were painted in either a rich mulberry shade called 'covet,' an island-inspired teal called 'dare,' or an edgy charcoal grey in 'asphalt.'  all shades are available now on the Oscar de la Renta website {$22/ea}.  as for the clothing collection, this season was not in typical ODLR fashion.  the styling was shockingly edgy and mysterious, instead of the expected romantic and elegant...

rag and bone fall | winter 2013: backstage.

rag & bone was the first revlon sponsored show i covered this season, which just happened to land on the day a raging blizzard hit new york {oh heyy, nemo}.  everyone was doing what they could to look pulled together {cue the umbrellas + hats}, but it was just kind of a mess.  sloshy street style aside, the snowstorm definitely didn't dampen the amazingness rag & bone sent down the runway.  for the face, gucci westman delivered a "graphic 60's look" using revlon ColorStay eyeliner {only $9} to create a defined line in the eye crease.  redken stylist guido paulo shaped the hair into a pony with a very deep side part and extra height at the crown, which he mentioned should have "a brokenness and ease to it."  to finish, jin soon dressed the models' nails in two coats of revlon 'elegant' {#380} for a look resembling mannequin hands.

as if the collection wasn't enough?  cider + tasty pretzels were served at the door.  swoon...

a new york sendoff.

hello lovelies!  oh, how i've missed you.  we have so much to catch up on, and we will do just that!  ok, first?  the elephant in the room.  you must know that since last blogging, i have taken a swan dive and moved to new york!  {oh em gee}  saying typing the words still feels foreign, but in a good way.  ever since my internship in the city {many moons ago}, i have felt a pull to move back... but it just wasn't the proper time.  the apartment hunt was pretty grueling, but the prize is the cutest little loft e-v-e-r.  for what she lacks in square footage, she makes up for in charm {think sky high windows, a marble fireplace, mahogany ceilings, and a bathtub}!  i landed in manhattan, bordering the upper east side, and i must admit that writing my zip code makes my heart skip a beat.  has it finally happened?

before leaving arkansas, my nearest and dearest friends joined me for a little going away fete.  it was an amazing night, filled with so much love... and i couldn't be more grateful to everyone that came to see me off.  my mom flew up with me, and was a huge help in getting everything settled.  we came up in the middle of New York Fashion Week, so while i ran off to shows {in between unpacking boxes} mom would hang back and keep things moving... and for that i can't thank her enough!  i haven't found a local photographer for blog photos yet, so here are a few snapshots of some of my favorite recent looks...
